Recipe of the region The Vienna Woods

    Ingredients

    250 g margarine
    250 g icing sugar
    312 g ground nuts
    187 g ground poppy seeds
    9 eggs
    1 packet of baking powder

    1 teaspoon of rum
    Juice of half a lemon
    Margarine for greasing
Baking tin with a 22 cm diameter

    Method

First separate the eggs. Then mix together the egg yolks, icing sugar, vanilla sugar and margarine until they are frothy. Beat the egg whites. Fold the ground poppy seeds, ground nuts and baking powder into the sugar & butter mixture and add the lemon juice. Fold in the beaten egg white, grease the baking tin and pour in the mixture. Bake for 90 minutes at 140 degrees.

    Reference
Franz Schubert and other artists were inspired in the Höldrichsmühle. In line with this tradition, the home-made Schubert Cake is a culinary inspiration from Schubert’s linden tree and also tastes deliciously sinful! And for the icing on the cake when the temperature starts to rise, serve it with a scoop of poppy ice cream on hot summer days to enjoy a deliciously cooling experience.
