Amateur locomotive trips – unique in Austria

As a particularly special steam train highlight, you can enjoy the “Next stop: childhood dream” locomotive experience on the Mur Valley Railway. Drive the steam train yourself under the supervision of experienced locomotive drivers. Operate the controls, valves and locomotive whistle and finally realise your dream of driving a locomotive.

As a memento of this trip, the “locomotive driver for one day” will receive the “locomotive experience certificate“. Also available as a package offer with accommodation and a tour of Murau.

25 July – artist train
Be enchanted by artists. There’ll be no time for boredom on this trip or during your stay in Stadl an der Mur. The motto on this afternoon is laughter and amazement.  An experience for young and old.

26 August – barbecue party
A steam train journey to Teufenbach. Let yourself be spoiled with barbecue specialities and Styrian music in the cosy park atmosphere.

7 September – delicacies train
It’s all about Styrian delicacies and Murau beer on this train journey to Stadl an der Mur.

26 October – cycle train
You’ll need to bring your bike with you on this trip to Tamsweg on 26 October. On the way back, you’ll have to ride your bike on the famous Mur Cycle Trail. You can also shorten the cycle route by going part of the way back on the train.
