    Tour description

The trail starts from the car park of the Narzissen Vital Resort and takes us in an easterly direction on a meadow path to the former Gasthof Teichwirt. From here we cycle on the approach road to the intersection, where we turn right onto Sommersbergseestrasse. We cycle to the right until we reach the junction to Sarstein. We then travel downhill through the town to the cider tavern.

We now take the Salzkammerweg (forest path) downhill towards the Traun and then cycle upstream. We cross the Traun at Austeg and follow the Austegweg towards Bad Aussee train station. Just before the station, we cross the track on the right and follow the “Koppenstraße” federal road, which is signposted as the >R19 Salzkammergut Cycle Trail<. After around three kilometres we turn off to the right and down a gravel path and follow this to the state border with Upper Austria. The Styrian >R19 Salzkammergut Cycle Trail< becomes the Upper Austrian >R2< trail and takes you sharply down to the Koppen Valley railway. We cross this railway and the Traun via the new bridge and travel on the >R2< to Obertraun and via the Koppenlacke, the Dachstein cable car valley station and the Federal Sports Centre to Lake Hallstatt.

On the suspension bridges and gravel paths that shouldn’t be missed, we continue to Untersee and on to St. Agatha. At the Agathawirt we cross the B 145 – Pötschenstrasse and carry on towards the Halleralm. We turn off to the right after a short whole and follow the Leislingstrasse for approx. 5.5 kilometres, climbing up towards Oberlupitsch the whole way. From there, we turn left towards Waldgraben.

At the next crossing, we take the first forest road to the right and travel towards the mountain ruins of Pflindsberg and Altaussee. We then keep travelling downhill in the wood and through the fields on asphalt to Altaussee. After the Gärtnerei Reischenböck, we reach the main road and turn off to the right. We follow this to the junction towards Bad Ischl. At the intersection, we go right on the Wimmstraße up to the Hiasngasse and follow this until we reach the B145. At the fire station we then turn left and continue on the B145 until we get back to our starting point, the Narzissen Vital Resort, after 750 m.
