Bavaria Filmstadt, in the south of Munich, is the perfect stop-off for anyone who fancies a leisurely cycle and wants to experience something special along the way. Situated right next to the Perlacher Forest and close to the Isar Cycle Route, a relaxed and informative tour lasting around 90 minutes takes you behind the scenes of film and television.
A world of its own awaits you across 300,000 square metres: huge studio halls, sets, film villas and production offices with a tradition stretching back almost a century. Tour guides charmingly recount the tricks and tips used on set and showcase original props: the submarine model from *Das Boot*, the classroom from *Fack ju Göhte*, the opulent bedroom complete with magic mirror from *Chantal im Märchenland*, and a space station from *Stowaway*. On exclusive display: the original set from *Das Kanu des Manitu* – a highlight for film fans.
Participation is expressly encouraged: selected guests act out short scenes from *Die Rosenheim-Cops* in front of a live camera and take the recording home as a souvenir. Another highlight is the 4D cinema showing *Mowgli’s Jungle Adventure*. Extra tip for tech fans and families: the Hologate Arena offers virtual reality gaming adventures ranging from “The Smurfs” to “Ghostbusters”. Dogs are welcome, and bike racks are available right by the entrance.
