B32 Rosalia cycle path
Leave the daily grind behind and experience the beauty of the Rosali Mountains on two wheels: the B32 Rosalia Cycle Route delights with its gentle hills, idyllic vineyards, shady woods and impressive views. The route runs largely through the Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park and offers the perfect conditions for discovering the diverse landscape and its rich flora and fauna. Charming villages and regional hospitality make the tour a special experience. Whether you’re a leisure cyclist or an ambitious sports enthusiast – this cycle route promises unforgettable moments for young and old alike.
The B32 Rosalia Cycle Route is a circular route approximately 58 kilometres long, which uniquely combines nature, culture and cuisine in the Rosalia Mountains. The route runs mainly along tarmac-surfaced cycle paths and farm tracks, most of which have little traffic, and is ideal for e-bike riders and road cyclists. In the Forchtenstein area, a number of more demanding climbs provide sporting challenges, which are rewarded with impressive panoramic views over the gently rolling hills.
Much of the route passes through the Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park – past dense forests, vineyards, species-rich orchard meadows and flowering meadow landscapes that define the region’s distinctive character. In early summer, the Wiesener strawberries – famous far beyond the borders of Burgenland – are a major attraction, whilst numerous vantage points along the route constantly invite you to pause and take in the views.
Among the cultural highlights is the majestic Forchtenstein Castle, which can be reached via a short detour from the route. Equally worth a visit are the historic Pauline monastery in Baumgarten, the spa gardens with their rose garden in Bad Sauerbrunn, the landscape art of Heinz Bruckschwaiger and the striking ‘Oktaeder’ artwork in Sigleß, as well as the sculpture trail in Pöttsching featuring works by Karl Prantl and international sculptors. In the Rohrbacher Teichwiesen nature reserve, a fascinating natural landscape unfolds, boasting a remarkable diversity of plants and animals.
On hot summer days, the bathing lakes in Rohrbach, Forchtenstein and Neudörfl, as well as the outdoor swimming pools in Mattersburg, Sigleß, Pöttsching and Schattendorf, invite you to take a refreshing break. Numerous places to stop for refreshments along the route make the tour a culinary delight as well. In Neudörfl in particular, traditional wine taverns (Heurige) welcome guests with regional specialities and excellent wines from the DAC Rosalia wine-growing region.
The B32 Rosalia Cycle and Hiking Trail combines sporting challenges with impressive nature experiences, cultural attractions, contemporary art and regional culinary delights. A varied tour that brings the diversity of the Rosalia region to life in a particularly impressive way.
