Experience

Discover the ‘Land of Sun’ – as Mittelburgenland is affectionately known – at its very best! This cycle tour is perfect for leisure cyclists on e-bikes, but sporty cyclists on trekking or road bikes will also find plenty to enjoy.

The route runs almost entirely along tarmac, quiet cycle paths and farm tracks. It takes you right through the gently rolling wine-growing region of the famous Blaufränkisch country: past idyllic villages, babbling brooks, colourful meadows, fields and shady woods. Numerous renowned wineries invite you to sample fine wines, and the rustic wine taverns are wonderful places to stop for a bite to eat. At Franz Liszt’s birthplace in Raiding, you can learn all about the life of the world-famous composer and piano virtuoso in the museum. Fascinating insights into the region are offered by the Flag-Waving and Viticulture Museum in Neckenmarkt, the Pottery Museum in Stoob, the MUBA (Museum of Building Culture) in Neutal and the traditional Koo blue-printing workshop in Steinberg-Dörfl.

The tour takes you to the Landseer Berge and Geschriebenstein-Írottkő Nature Parks, as well as to the well-known spa town of Lutzmannsburg, right on the Hungarian border. The imposing Lockenhaus Castle – once a refuge for the Knights Templar and the scene of the infamous ‘Blood Countess’s’ activities – is definitely worth a detour.

Enjoy unforgettable experiences of nature, fascinating culture, vibrant traditions and warm hospitality. The peaceful and tranquil villages of Central Burgenland make this cycling holiday an utterly stress-free and relaxing experience.
