E-bike Chapfensee
The tour climbs over the Vilterserberg to the idyllic Chapfensee. After a long descent, you return to Bad Ragaz via the castle towering above Sargans.
This challenging tour leaves the small town of Bad Ragaz and climbs past the Freudenberg castle ruins with views of the Rhine and Seez valleys up to the Vilterserberg. After a short descent, the tour climbs the road from Mels to the idyllic Chapfensee. The bike must be parked at the kiosk, as cycling is generally prohibited for the last 300 metres to the lake. The dammed mountain lake and its surroundings are a nature reserve and a popular destination for nature lovers. A rapid descent leads back to the valley floor and a variety of paths continue to Sargans Castle. The castle epitomises two hundred years of the county and more than three centuries of varied royal rule. It is home to one of the most important museums of local history in Europe and bears witness to Sargans' local history. After a short descent to the entrance of the Gonzen iron ore mine, where the Romans mined iron ore, the tour crosses the Sarganser Au. The route follows the Rhine dam to the Giessenpark Bad Ragaz and back to the starting point at the Tamina Therme Bad Ragaz.
