Roadbook
At the town centre in Bad Blumau, we start over the wooden bridge at the municipal office into the Thermenpark and head left along the gravel path. Here we pass various stations of the nature and culture adventure trail "Zukunft spazierendenken" and the willow construction. Then a road crosses our path, which we cross and pass on the right in front of the riding stable. If you would like to take a closer look at the Rogner Bad Blumau thermal baths, designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, you can continue straight on here and stop for a café or a cold beer.
We then cross the road at the roundabout and turn left into the village of Kleinsteinbach on an accompanying path. After seeing the train stop and leaving the tracks behind us, turn right at the next junction. After a short stretch of about 50 metres, we turn left and have a short ascent to contend with. Then we can enjoy a short downhill section. At the right-hand bend, do not follow the road but continue straight ahead or turn left along the path into the forest. Stay on this path until Burgau. Take care, especially in wet weather, as this is a forest path, sometimes with stones and small inclines and descents.
We also arrive in the village of Burgau rolling downhill. At the almost 90° bend, watch out for the stop sign, cycle straight on for a short distance and then follow the first road to the right out of Burgau. In the town centre, you can quench your thirst or hunger in an inn, café or bakery, and the moated castle is also worth a visit.
At the end of Burgau, we cross a very old bridge and turn right onto the gravel path at the tobacco hut. We continue straight ahead for a long stretch and can see beautiful fields and crops on both sides. Then we turn left and cross a bridge. We have now crossed the border river "Lafnitz" between Styria and Burgenland. After a short stretch, we turn right and cycle along the Lafnitz for another long stretch.
We then turn left towards Deutsch Kaltenbrunn. As soon as you reach the village, keep right on the road and follow the road through the village. At the end of the village, turn right back onto the path that runs alongside the road. Now continue straight ahead on this path for many kilometres until you reach Rudersdorf. Before that, there is a roundabout at the S7, which is the same route for bikes. In Rudersdorf, we keep left before the roundabout and cycle across a car park into Hintergasse towards the municipal office and past the church. Following Hintergasse, we now cross the main road in the direction of the side street "Am Mühlengrund". Here we pass the Fritz Mühle mill and cross the quaint bridge along part of the energy trail. At the next junction, follow the riverside path to the left. Then turn left again onto Burgenlandstraße.
Now we come to the centre of Fürstenfeld. At the roundabout, turn right into Hauptstraße, pass the Fürstenfeld guest information centre and turn left into Dr.-A.-Heinrichstraße, turn right at Klostergasse and then left through Pfeilburghof. Follow the signs here until you turn right into Wallstraße. Now continue straight ahead for a long stretch until you reach Morzartstraße. Here we turn right and then continue straight ahead, crossing Buchwaldstraße once and following a narrow, asphalted and partly sloping path. At the end, turn left towards the outdoor pool. Before the entrance, turn right over the bridge. Follow the signs for Grazerstraße or the signs for the R12 cycle path.
Change sides of the road at the traffic lights. Behind the shopping centre (Restaurant Italian), turn left onto the cycle path. Then follow Baumgasse and turn left into Angerstraße. Continue straight on into the centre of Speltenbach and turn left into Speltenbacherweg at the crossroads. Follow this road out of the village of Speltenbach (turn left once at the crossroads after the village) as far as Altenmarkt. Shortly after entering the village, turn right at the football pitch into Dorfgrabenweg. Then turn right again at the crossroads. Follow Jobsterstraße until you reach the next village, Jobst . Here, after the old fire station, turn right into the road to Loimeth. At the entrance to the village on the right, you can take a detour to the 1000-year-old oak tree. Continue straight on into the village and turn right at the first crossroads onto Dorfstraße Loimeth. Now follow this road and turn left once more into the main road to Bad Blumau and after a short stretch you are back at the starting point.
