The start of the Herzroute has it all!
While you follow the cosy lakeside cycle path from Romanshorn, the 99 branches off abruptly in Rorschach and conquers the hills. The proximity to the lake becomes a view of the lake and a little later a panoramic view of the lake. The route virtuously dances around the Appenzell foothills and finally reaches the splendid viewpoint of St. Anton, from where you think you can see half the world. This is followed by an epic descent to the small wine-growing town of Altstätten, where the high altitude rush can be calmed down a little with some fermented juice from local producers
