Mangfall cycle path
The cycle path connects Munich with Rosenheim and runs along the Mangfall river from Feldkirchen-Westerham. The 63-kilometre route has hardly any inclines and always offers beautiful places to rest.
The Mangfall cycle path is a well-developed route from Munich to Rosenheim. In Feldkirchen-Westerham, cyclists meet the River Mangfall, which has its source in Lake Tegernsee and makes a bend here. The route continues along the Mangfall or on flat paths close to the river via Kolbermoor to Rosenheim. There the Mangfall flows into the Inn.
In recent years, the river area has been beautifully renaturalised and invites you to cool your feet, picnic and relax.
It is suitable for children due to the few gentle gradients, but touring bikes, trekking bikes or mountain bikes are recommended.
Roadbook
- From Munich's Ostbahnhof railway station, the Mangfall Cycle Path leads along roadside cycle paths out of Munich via Neuperlach, Perlach, Ottobrunn and Höhenkirchen to Aying (large brewery beer garden).
- In Feldolling, you will notice a tower-like "surge tank" with huge pipes and several reservoirs, the Vagen power station. In Vagen itself, the beautifully designed village centre and the baroque church of Maria Himmelfahrt are well worth a visit.
- The Weihenlinden pilgrimage church with its outstanding stucco work and the animal and natural history museum as well as the Salus Auwald biotope are an attraction in Bruckmühl.
- Further along the route, the Blindham mountain animal park invites younger guests to play.
- Maxlrain Castle with its brewery beer garden and the spa town of Bad Aibling with its historic buildings and artistic Lüftlmalerei paintings are a feast for the eyes. Alongside the beautifully renaturalised Mangfall with its flower banks and rest areas, the route continues to Kolbermoor.
- The spinning mill industrial monument in Kolbermoor is located directly on the Mangfall Cycle Path and is a unique reminder of industrialisation in Kolbermoor.
- On a relatively flat route, you reach Rosenheim and the mouth of the Inn on the former state garden show grounds and relax in the many cafés of the former salt trading town (sights: Engine shed, old town, wood technology museum, Inn museum, Riedergarten, municipal gallery).
Alternative from Feldkirchen-Westerham: Samerweg in the northern Mangfall valley
