The tour starts at Hotel Grof and first leads along quiet side roads through Prekopa towards the idyllic Žovneker Lake. There, a short stop by the water invites you to pause for a moment. The route then continues through Breslovče and Male Braslovče, accompanied by beautiful views of the Savinja Valley.
The route continues via Parižlje, Kamenče and Gomilsko before finally returning to Hotel Grof via Ojstriška Vas. The route is mostly flat and is ideal for a relaxed cycle tour where enjoyment and scenery take centre stage.
Sights of the cycle tour
Žovneker Lake - An artificial lake created by damming, which is particularly popular with anglers and walkers. In calm weather, the surrounding hills are impressively reflected in the water.
Žovnek Castle (ruins) - The remains of a 12th century castle sit enthroned above the lake. It was once the seat of the Counts of Žovnek, the ancestors of the Counts of Cilli.
Village centre of Male Braslovče - A typical village in the Savinja Valley with well-preserved, traditional architecture.
Church of St. Jacob in Gomilsko - A Baroque church with an artistically designed interior and striking church tower.
Savinja River - Crossing the river in Parižlje and Kamenče opens up beautiful views of the calm watercourse and the valley's characteristic meadow landscapes.
