Priental cycle path
The route takes you along the Prien river from the mountaineering village of Sachrang via Aschau i. Chiemgau to Prien am Chiemsee and ends at the Schafwaschener Bucht in Rimsting. The route is signposted and passable in both directions.
The Prien river has its source at the Spitzstein at 1150 metres above sea level in the mountaineering village of Sachrang. After 32 kilometres, the Prien flows into the Schafwaschen Bay of Lake Chiemsee near the village of Rimsting. Alongside the Tyrolean Achen, the Prien is the second largest tributary to Lake Chiemsee and one of the longest torrents in the Bavarian Alps.
Along the Prientalweg trail, you will pass various sights and excursion destinations. In Sachrang, you can follow in the footsteps of the organist, choirmaster, composer and lay doctor at the Müllner Peter Museum.
In Aschau i. Chiemgau, Hohenaschau Castle with its falconry awaits you. Or how about a short detour to the Kampenwand with the Kampenwandbahn cable car?
In Prien am Chiemsee, you can experience the history of the town up close in the Prien local history museum. Not far from the town centre is the Chiemsee boat trip, which takes you to the Herreninsel with Herrenchiemsee Castle and the smaller Fraueninsel with its monastery complex.
Outside the village of Rimsting is the Schafwaschen Bay with a nature observation station from where you can discover the biodiversity of Lake Chiemsee.
Kneipp pools along the route promise soothing refreshment for your legs.
