Schwarzenbergrunde
The Schwarzenbergrunde starts in St. Michael, past the Mur Island downstream to St. Margarethen. The route leads past Pischelsdorf and Flatschach to Unternberg, always along the Mur.
The Unternberg recreation area invites you to take an extended break before continuing on to Tamsweg. From Tamsweg, the tour runs along the Mur through the Madlinger Schlucht gorge to the IsoSpanwerk plant. Once there, turn right onto the main road for approx. 300 metres and then turn left towards Thomatal. In the village of Thomatal there is a memorial to the late priest Valentin Pfeifenberger, who was known far and wide as the "Bishop of the Lungau".
Tip: If you turn right into the side path at the Thomatal exit before the traffic island, you will come to a wonderful vantage point on the Speiereck with a bench. Here you will also discover a beautiful wayside shrine to St. Madonna.
In Pichlern you also have a unique view of the Mur valley. Now it's back down from Pichlern via Pischelsdorf, where you return to the Mur cycle path. Here you cycle upstream in the direction of St. Margarethen back to St. Michael.
