Weier Loop from St.Gallen
Circular tour from St.Gallen with plenty of water views: From the abbey district via the Sitter and the baroque Bernhardzell church to the idyllic Horbacher Weier, continuing via smaller ponds to the Gübsensee. Quiet sections, beautiful viewpoints and pure nature - with a view of the Sitter viaduct.
A round trip to the lake already sounds like a nice cycle tour. It gets even better when you cycle to several bodies of water at once. This is what awaits you on this circular tour from St.Gallen. You start your excursion in the abbey district. As you cycle out of the city, you cross the Sitter and have your first sight of water today.
In Bernhardzell, you pass the pretty baroque church. It is dedicated to St John the Baptist and is also a real eye-catcher from the inside. The Horbacher Weier is the resting place of this tour. The trees and bushes towering on the banks are reflected on the surface of the water. Relaxation in the midst of nature is now the order of the day. The Horbacher Weier is one of several bodies of water lined up here.
Shortly before St.Gallen, you pass the Gübsensee - a long reservoir - and cross the Sitter once again. You can look across to the imposing Sitter viaduct. If you like, you can shorten the tour and hop on the train in Bischofszell.
