Route of the leisure tour
After the Chapfensee reservoir, the tour takes you back down into the valley to Sargans, where the distinctive Sargans Castle sits enthroned above the small town. From there you have a wonderful panoramic view across the Sarganserland region. You can enjoy culinary delights in the castle garden or in the castle itself. If you want to learn more about the culture and history of the castle and the Sarganserland region, visit the museum in the 900-year-old tower of the castle. Romantic nooks and crannies or legends and stories can be discovered on six floors.
After visiting Sargans Castle, the tour continues via Vilters back to Bad Ragaz. There we recommend a visit to the Tamina Therme spa with its soothing 36.5° warm thermal water to finish the tour.
Highlights of the tour
- Chapfensee reservoir: Wonderfully embedded in a protected nature reserve, the Chapfensee reservoir is situated at 1,030 m above sea level. On a hiking tour around the reservoir, you will discover not only a rewarding vantage point but also an original moorland landscape.
- Sargans Castle: The 900-year-old tower of Sargans Castle is visible from afar. The six floors accommodate a museum. In addition, the old count's castle houses a restaurant with historic rooms, a secluded courtyard and a wine cellar with an ancient wine press.
- Tamina Therme spa: The thermal spa with its healing 36.5° warm thermal water from the Tamina Gorge offers rest and relaxation for your body, mind and soul. The new sauna village is also home to the largest infusion sauna in Switzerland.
