Puster Valley cycle route: San Candido – Brunico stage

The San Candido – Brunico stage is dominated by the green colour of meadows, fields and forests. Running alongside the railway line, partly through inhabited areas and partly through unspoilt countryside, the cycle path winds its way from village to village until it reaches Bruneck, the economic centre of the Puster Valley.

A bicycle tour becomes a pleasure when you combine it with a stop for a bite to eat.

Puster Valley cycle route: San Candido – Brunico stage

The tour starts in Innichen and first leads to Toblach, the highest point of the stage. It then descends along the Rienz river via Niederdorf to Welsberg. There you can stop at the mini golf course or Welsperg Castle. Continue to Olang, where you pass through the districts of Oberolang, Mitterolang and Niederolang. Highlights include the Olang Children’s World, the 3D archery course and the restored Venetian ‘Lipper Säge’ sawmill.

The cycle path continues through increasingly peaceful countryside to the medieval town of Bruneck. Bruneck Castle towers high above the town, while shops and restaurants invite you to linger below. Cultural highlights include the Dietenheim Folk Museum, the MMM Ripa and the MMM Corones on Kronplatz (accessible by gondola lift from Reischach).
