At 488 m, the Gustermairberg is the highest elevation in the Kremsmünster municipality – and that’s exactly where we want to go. To “conquer” it we use an energy-saving route to the west of Adlwang via Weißenbach. The remaining seven kilometres to our final destination are pleasantly flat and offer wonderful far-reaching views of the eastern boundary of the Krems Valley.
The “tree in the centre of the world” is the highlight of the tour and dates back to Emperor Franz Joseph I – in 1823 the cadastral survey of several crown lands started here; a small observation tower provides more information. The “tree” was an old, mighty linden tree until 1929. The current linden tree has been standing there since 1916.
The harmonious atmosphere continues on the effortless descent back down into the Sulzbach Valley. The eyes and spirit draw on the natural surroundings and the body can relax.
