The Drau Cycle Path – A 5-Star Cycling Journey Through Three Countries
The Drau Cycle Path, awarded 5 stars by the ADFC, stretches for 366 kilometers from the source of the Drau in the Italian Toblach Field through East Tyrol and Carinthia to Maribor in Slovenia.
The journey begins in the picturesque Hochpustertal, near the source of the Drau. The river accompanies you through diverse landscapes featuring impressive mountains, idyllic valleys, and charming towns. From Dravograd in Slovenia, the cycle path leaves the valley floor and winds through gentle hills, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Drau Valley.
Beyond Maribor, the former European Capital of Culture, the route continues to Slovenia’s oldest town – Ptuj. The grand finale is the baroque jewel of Varaždin in Croatia, which captivates visitors with its historic old town and artistic flair.
