Most is a typical Upper Austrian beverage. Fine-bubbled, refreshing, powerful, and fruity-tart, it not only characterizes the drink menus of local inns but also, thanks to the many fruit trees used for making Most, the landscape and cuisine of the region.

The “cradle” of the apricot lies in China. The fruit was cultivated there 4,000 years ago before Alexander the Great brought it to Europe. The Romans brought it to the Wachau, where it has been cultivated for around 2,000 years. Since 1996, the name “Wachauer Marille g.U.” has been a protected designation of origin within the EU.

The region’s biggest and sweetest treat is the Wiesener “strawberry”. The wonderful scent of the sun-ripened fruits and the sparkling Rosalia Frizzante rosé make your mouth water. If it were not a strawberry, you would have to address it like royalty.

Brewing art and beer enjoyment are integral to Mühlviertel, much like its hills and granite. It’s as synonymous as “Amen” to a prayer. In this region, where beer has been brewed for over 500 years, it proudly identifies itself as a global hub for beer and takes pride in being home to Austria’s largest hop cultivation region.
