Castle tour Frauenfeld region

Have you ever experienced history with a tailwind? The castle tour around Frauenfeld takes you around 50 kilometres to eight castles, fortresses and ruins. Along the way, you will hear their stories first-hand and experience how the past comes to life. An enjoyable cultural experience on two wheels is created between nature, vast landscapes and historic walls - ideal for anyone who wants to actively discover Thurgau by bike or e-bike

The Frauenfeld Castle Tour will be open from 7 May 2026 and is not yet equipped with information boards.

The Frauenfeld region is rich in historic castles, palaces and ruins that take visitors on a fascinating journey through time. The tour begins at the imposing Frauenfeld Castle, the landmark of the cantonal capital and home to the Thurgau Historical Museum

From there, the route continues to Gachnang Castle and Kefikon Castle before reaching the ruins of Helfenberg. The route then continues to Herdern Castle, which is now used as a residential, work and employment centre, and on to Liebenfels Castle. Gündelhart Castle impresses with its special elegance, before the historic Kastell ad Fines is visited. The tour concludes with a return to Frauenfeld.
