Cycle tour Starnberger See - Kochelsee and back

Lakes, mountains & more: challenging round tour through the Tölzer Land region from Lake Starnberg to Lake Kochelsee

This challenging, particularly scenic tour takes cyclists from Lake Starnberg to Lake Kochelsee and back.

You start in Münsing and cycle southwards to the tranquil Loisach, where you can see the picturesque castle in Eurasburg on the hillside. In Beuerberg, it is worth making a detour to Beuerberg Monastery, which attracts visitors in the summer months with a multifaceted exhibition centred around the concept of "home".

With the mountains always in sight, the route continues through the Euracher and Breit-Filz (part of the moorland axis from Kochelsee to Deining with raised bogs, transition and fens) until you reach Bichl and Benediktbeuern with its monastery and basilica with its two striking onion domes. To Kochelsee you cycle through the Kochelsee-Loisach moors nature reserve. Information boards draw attention to the special features of the flora and fauna!

From Kochel a. See, you cycle northwards along the Kochelsee via Schlehdorf and several small, tranquil villages in the Pfaffenwinkel back to Lake Starnberg.

Degerndorf - Achmühle - along the Loisach - Eurasburg - Nantesbuch - Bichl - Benediktbeuern - Kochel a. See - Schlehdorf - Sindelsdorf - Iffeldorf - St. Heinrich - Ambach - Holzhausen - Dergerndorf

From Degerndorf, keep eastwards to Bolzwang. After the motorway, turn left and cycle steeply uphill/downhill to Achmühle. On Wolfratshauser Str. turn right and follow the Loisach upstream to Eurasburg with its castle, which is well worth seeing. Castle. Continue to Beuerberg, Bergbauer, Bierbichl. Cycle through the Euracher Filz and Breitfilz to Nantesbuch and the Loisach. Continue in a southerly direction via Hohenbirken, Mürnsee, Kiensee to Untersteinbach. You reach Bichl via Obersteinbach. At the entrance to the village, turn left to reach Benediktbeuern. There you cross the B11 at the village square and cycle to the monastery in Benediktbeuern. Continue to Ried. Here you turn right into the Kochelsee-Loisach moor and cycle via Brunnenbach and the village to Kochel am See. Follow the cycle path along Kocheler Str. to Schlehdorf, then turn right to Unterau to later reach Großweil and Kleinweil along the Loisach. Continue via Zell to Sindelsdorf, Frauenrain, Antdorf and Iffeldorf. Continue in a northerly direction via Staltach, Sanimoor, Schechen to Lake Starnberg. Turn right and you reach St. Heinrich. Via Pischtesried you reach the Ambach recreation area on Lake Starnberg. Up via Holzhausen back to Degerndorf.
