Roadbook
The cycle route starts in Villabassa and continues through the village towards the Braies Valley. At the entrance to the valley, the cycle path crosses the road over a bridge and continues in a westerly direction to Monguelfo. There you will find a shady park with a playground.
If you fancy a game of golf, you can try your hand at the newly built golf course. A visit to Welsperg Castle is recommended for all culture lovers. Valdaora/Olang is not far from Monguelfo/Welsberg. The tour then takes you past the Olang reservoir, passing all three districts, namely Oberolang, Mitterolang and Niederolang, and you are spoilt for choice as to whether you want to take a detour to the Olang children's world, visit the 3D archery course or visit the restored Venetian "Lipper Säge". From Valdaora/Olang, the cycle path continues downstream in increasingly unspoilt nature and past the village of Perca/Percha, where there is a sports and playground. The cycle path continues into the Rienzschlucht gorge and through a dimly lit tunnel. The valley basin then opens up again and the small medieval town of Bruneck lies at your feet. Bruneck Castle towers high above the rooftops of the town, while the charming shops and many places to stop for refreshments are bustling in the town centre below. There are various museums and art treasures to visit in Bruneck. Of particular importance is the Folklore Museum in Dietenheim, the Messner Mountain Museum MMM Ripa, which is housed in Bruneck Castle, and the newest museum MMM Corones. The latter is located at an altitude of 2,275 metres on the summit of Kronplatz and can be reached by cable car from Reischach.
The cycle tour can be interrupted in any village in Val Pusteria/Pustertal and the return journey can be made by train.
The route continues along the popular "Ahrtour" cycle route through the Tauferer Ahrntal valley, which promises a very special nature experience. From Bruneck, the Ahr tour to Sand in Taufers is quite flat and is therefore particularly suitable for families. This cycle tour is an experience for athletes and hobby cyclists and can of course also be enjoyed in individual sections.
From Bruneck, follow the signs in the direction of Ahrntal - Sand in Taufers. The cycle path begins outside the town centre and leads along the state road to the residential area of St. Georgen. After a short climb, you reach the holiday village of Gais via the field road to the right of the Ahr. Past the recreation park and children's playground in the village centre, the cycle path continues to the craftsmen's zone, then through fields and meadows to Uttenheim. From there, take the tarmac field road (right bank of the river) to Kematen. From Kematen there are several ways to reach Sand in Taufers. If you want to visit Sand in Taufers itself, drive over the bridge, cross the road and reach the large parish church, from where you can go straight into the village centre.
