Ybbstal cycle path

Always along the Ybbs, from the Danube to the mountain lake: the 111 km long Ybbstal Cycle Path provides magnificent nature and cycling experiences. The centrepiece between Waidhofen an der Ybbs and Lunz am See is particularly suitable for families and connoisseurs.

First through the gently undulating land of the Mostbirn trees, then through the alpine region of the Iron Road: on its 111 km, the Ybbstal Cycle Path not only connects the Danube with Lake Lunz, but also the mild and wild sides of the Mostviertel.

The heart of the Ybbstal Cycle Path between Waidhofen an der Ybbs and Lunz am See is 55 kilometres long and makes the hearts of leisure cyclists beat faster. But not because they have to tackle particularly steep climbs, quite the opposite: the route here follows the railway line of the former Ybbstal railway - completely flat, away from car traffic, but always very close to the river.

The cycle path is a synthesis of the arts, elegant route guidance and spectacular scenery. You cycle over picturesque arched bridges and through a short tunnel, cross a wild and romantic gorge, enjoy the sun and the crystal-clear water on quiet sandbanks, come across historic hammer mills and, time and again, specially designed "Zeit für s'ich" rest areas to relax.

No inclines, an exemplary safe route and plenty of places to stop for refreshments and a swim: The centrepiece of the Ybbstal Cycle Path is a PaRADies for families. And as a special treat, Lake Lunz awaits at the end of the stage, where you can relax, swim or go boating. To get back to the starting point, there is the cycle hitchhiker bus and the Ybbstal cycle taxi.
