The cycle path along the Inn

At the start of the Innradweg, impressive mountain ranges line the path to the left and right, which always has a slight gradient downstream. When cycling - especially if you are travelling on a long-distance cycle path with a length of 535 km - a slight incline is certainly not a disadvantage for comfortable progress. At the end of the cycle tour, you come to an area with a contrasting landscape to the Alps: the unmistakable river meadows of the Inn. From west to east, there is so much to discover on the Inn Cycle Path!

Multifaceted Inn cycle path

Bizarre high mountains. Hilly Alpine foothills. Extensive river meadows.

This impressive cycle tour starts in the tranquil Swiss Engadin. Along the green, crystal-clear River Inn, the route leads through the oldest national park in the Alps, a breathtaking UNESCO biosphere reserve and across the idyllic Engadin lake district. Another highlight on the Inn Cycle Route à la Swiss: the elite winter sports Eldorado of St. Moritz, which is also worth a visit in summer.

Now the Inn cycle path meanders along the rushing mountain river through Tyrol. The cycle tour leads past the Cistercian monastery of Stams, a popular place of pilgrimage, and passes the pleasant metropolis of Innsbruck. How about a visit to the "Golden Roof"? Or a romantic stroll through the old town? Sports enthusiasts should not miss the Bergisel Stadium and kids will enjoy the colourful animal world of the Alpine Zoo.

On the Inn cycle path through Tyrol

The longest part of the Inn Cycle Path runs through Tyrol. After Innsbruck, the Inn Cycle Path runs partly on a dam. Two special gems await you along the way: the impressive Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens and the medieval fortress in Kufstein.

You leave Tyrol and reach cosy Bavaria. Enjoy the charm of this region and the rustic, friendly character of the people! The cycle tour first takes you to Wasserburg am Inn with its historic townscape and on to the famous pilgrimage site of Altötting with the "Black Mother of God", which is well worth seeing.

You now pass the border with Austria again on the Inn cycle path and reach another highlight of this long-distance cycle tour: the European nature reserve "Unterer Inn" with unspoilt meadows, islands and rare bird species. Pure nature!

On the last stage of the Inn Cycle Path, you will discover the enchanting baroque town of Schärding with its beautiful town houses. Finally, this magnificent long-distance cycle route ends in the three-river city of Passau, where the Inn and Ilz flow into the wide Danube river.
