No problem with Velontour - because we have both cycle routes and accommodation ready for you.

The course of the Via Claudia Augusta

If you look at the map of the Via Claudia Augusta, you will see that the starting point of the cross-border cycle tour is Donauwörth in Bavaria on the beautiful blue Danube. From here, an eventful cycle tour along Europe's cultural axis awaits you. On the way towards Augsburg, you can look forward to wonderfully quiet cycle paths surrounded by idyllic nature. A "must-see" on the route is the romantic Neuschwanstein Castle - the fairytale castle of King Ludwig II.

Near Reutte in Tyrol, the Ehrenberg castle world awaits you with ruins, medieval walls and knights' games. You then cycle along the Via Claudia Augusta cycle path, passing impressive alpine information centres with imposing peaks, before continuing over the Fernpass at 1,216 m to Imst and Landeck. In Imst, the "Haus der Fasnacht" is the perfect place for a stopover. Here you can learn about the background to the traditional Imst Schemenlauf and experience customs up close!

Other highlights of this long-distance cycle tour include the mystical Tyrolean water world in Zams with the unique natural spectacle of the Zammer Lochputz and the interesting archaeological museum in Fliess.

Via Claudia Augusta - the cycle route in Italy

After the numerous adventure highlights on the Via Claudia August in Germany and Austria, the route of the popular cycle path takes you via Finstermünz and the Reschen Pass to the southern side of the Alps in Mediterranean South Tyrol. Here you can enjoy the unspoilt landscapes, the rustling forests and the babbling mountain streams before immersing yourself in the Italian "dolce vita". Feel this carefree, relaxed flair on your cycling holiday and conquer the enchanting towns of Bolzano and Merano with their numerous cultural treasures!

On the last section of the Via Claudia Augusta along the old Roman road, you will pass the historic cities of Trento and Verona - the home of Romeo and Juliet. After that it's time to go: On the pedals, get set, and off into the home straight! You will soon reach your destination on the beautiful Adriatic Sea: Venice. The charming lagoon city with the famous Grand Canal and the imposing St Mark's Square is already waiting for you!
