Off we go – along Europe’s cultural axis! This popular cross-border long-distance cycle tour starts in Donauwörth, Bavaria, on the beautiful blue Danube. You can look forward to this stage! You cycle on wonderfully quiet paths towards Augsburg. A “must-see” is the romantic Neuschwanstein Castle – the fairy-tale castle of King Ludwig II.
Ehrenberg Castle World near Reutte in Tyrol awaits with its ruins, medieval walls and knights’ games. You will pass impressive alpine formations with mighty peaks. Crossing the Fern Pass at 1,216 m above sea level, you continue to Imst and Landeck. The “Haus der Fasnacht” (Carnival Museum) is perfect for a stop in Imst. Here you will learn about the background of the traditional Imst Schemenlaufen (procession of masked, costumed dancers). Tradition at your fingertips!

Other highlights of this long-distance cycle tour are the mystical Tyrolean Water World in Zams with the unique spectacle of nature in the Zammer Lochputz gorge and the interesting Archaeology Museum in Fliess.
The Via Claudia Augusta will then take you further via Finstermünz and the Reschen Pass to Mediterranean South Tyrol on the southern side of the Alps. Enjoy the pristine landscapes, the rustling forests and the babbling mountain streams before you dive into the Italian “Dolce vita”! Experience this carefree, relaxed flair and conquer the charming towns of Bolzano and Merano with their numerous art and cultural treasures!
On the last leg of this cycling tour along the ancient Roman road you pass the historic towns of Trento and Verona – home of Romeo and Juliet – before reaching your destination on the beautiful Adriatic Sea: Venice!
