The name says it all here! The cycling tour starts along the track of the Reblaus Express in the heart of the walled town of Drosendorf.
Cycle tour from Drosendorf to Retz or Retz to Drosendorf
Travel along the railway line past small villages embedded in the picturesque natural landscape, lush vineyards and expansive fields. You’ll quickly reach Lungau and it’s worth making a short detour to the Czech town of Schaffa with its impressive mining lakes. In this part of the Langau leisure park you can try out some activities such as hiking, swimming or water skiing. Continue on the rail track to Hessendorf and then through the romantic Fugnitz Valley. The towns of Fronsburg, Weitersfeld, Pleißing and Hofern are the next landmarks – with only 68 inhabitants, Hofern is the smallest place in the municipality of Retz. You must, of course, stop at one of the traditional Waldviertel wine taverns – before continuing with renewed strength. The rest of the route is mainly downhill and you’ll pass the famous Retz windmill before gently rolling into the centre of the wine town of Retz.
TIP: Can be combined with the Kamp-Thaya March cycle route as a circular tour.
