The Kamp-Thaya-March cycle route is highly recommended as a top cycling route and one of the most breathtaking long-distance cycle tracks in Austria. Five stages cover 240 challenging kilometres in the Waldviertel. Alongside unspoilt natural landscapes, dense woods, green meadows, natural parks and the Thaya Valley National Park.

The Kamp-Thaya-March cycle route is highly recommended as a top cycling route and one of the most breathtaking long-distance cycle tracks in Austria. Five stages cover 240 challenging kilometres in the Waldviertel. Alongside unspoilt natural landscapes, dense woods, green meadows, natural parks and the Thaya Valley National Park.
Cycle tour in the Waldviertel
The first stage takes you from Krems through the Kamp Valley to the famous Rosenburg Renaissance Palace. Then the trail winds north past the Kamp reservoirs (Thurnberg, Dobra, Ottenstein) to Friedersbach. You then go via Zwettl into the realm of the Thaya and to Waidhofen, before cycling along the Thaya into the walled town of Drosendorf. The final stage takes you via the Hardegg National Park municipality and down to Retz. By now you’ve covered a cumulative elevation gain of around 2,500 metres – and completed a wonderful ride along the most beautiful rivers of the Waldviertel.
