Eastern Switzerland Wine Route
The Eastern Switzerland Wine Route leads along vineyards and scenic sights. And time and again, it passes through tranquil villages with cosy inns.
Shortly after the start in Schaffhausen, the wine route has a first highlight in store: the thundering waters of the Rhine Falls. It then takes you through the Zurich wine country. Before the route joins the Thur at the border with Thurgau, it is worth taking a short break at the idyllic Husemersee lake. The route leads to Ittingen Charterhouse through the broad valley of the Thur, on whose sunny flanks the vines for the excellent Thurgau wine grow. Via Pfyn and along the foot of the vine-covered Ottenberg, you finally reach Weinfelden
From Weinfelden, the route leads swiftly through the green Thur floodplains to Bischofszell. The route continues to Hauptwil. Finally, you cross the cantonal border and the route leads to Gossau and then to the finish in the monastery town of St. Gallen.
