The Most cycle route combines an impressive variety of landscapes. You cycle from the Danube floodplains to the gently undulating foothills of the Alps and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views. Mighty square farms, friendly villages and Most pear tree trellises line the route.

Numerous beautiful places invite you to linger and visit: the baroque Seitenstetten Abbey with its historic garden, the Mostviertel Farmers' Museum in Gigerreith (Amstetten), the Ostarrichi culture farm in Neuhofen an der Ybbs, the parish churches and the view from St. Michael am Bruckbach (south of St. Peter in der Au), the Haag open-air museum and Ardagger Abbey with the church of the former monastery.

Note: The cycle route is signposted in both directions and can also be cycled in the other direction.

Roadbook

  • Stages: Amstetten > Neuhofen > Seitenstetten > Haag > Erla > Wallsee > Amstetten
  • Length: 110 km
  • Road conditions: Almost entirely asphalted side roads
  • Traffic: little to no traffic almost all the way, but some sections on somewhat busier roads
  • Signposting: own red line or red pear signposting

Starting from the railway station in Amstetten, the route is rather flat for the first 8 km via Allersdorf and southwards to Euratsfeld. Then the route continues slightly hilly to Neuhofen an der Ybbs. Shortly before Neuhofen, after just under 14 km, you can stop off at the RelaxResort Kothmühle.

From Neuhofen , you cycle westwards on a flat section, continuing via Kröllendorf, where you pass the Ybbs. The section between Kröllendorf, Abetzdorf near Kematen and Biberbach is a little more hilly again, but there are no gradients worth mentioning.

Shortly after Biberbach there is a short ascent to the highest point of the tour (398 m) before continuing towards Seitenstetten and St. Peter/Au. If you have time, you should make a stopover in the historic courtyard garden of Seitenstetten Abbey before continuing on to Weistrach. In the Mostkirtag community, almost half of the Most cycle route has been completed.

From Weistrach, the cider cycle route alternates between slightly uphill and downhill sections to the north to the zoo community of Haag. A visit to the zebras, meerkats and co. is particularly suitable for families who are only completing one stage of the cycle route.

From Haag, the route continues northwards to St. Valentin, followed by a short ascent and descent to Erla. From Erla, the route rolls flat eastwards to Wallsee, parallel to the Danube from kilometre 84. The route leaves the Danube at kilometre 90, but the onward journey to Ardagger is also extremely flat.

The last section of the tour from Ardagger Markt via Ardagger Stift and Viehdorf is a little hillier again until the end point at the railway station in Amstetten is reached after just under 112 kilometres.
