Snow milk

Traditional Venosta Valley dessert from South Tyrol

Ingredients for the snow milk

for 4 persons

  • 170 g white bread
  • 50 g sultanas
  • 125 g milk
  • 500 g cream
  • 30 g sugar
  • 1 tbsp rum
  • Chocolate shavings

Preparation of the snow milk

Cut the white bread into small cubes and place in a large bowl with the sultanas. Heat the milk slightly (it should only be lukewarm) and dissolve the sugar in it completely. Then pour the sweetened milk and rum evenly over the bread and leave to stand briefly so that the bread can soak up the mixture.

Whip the cream until stiff and then carefully fold into the bread mixture. Do this carefully so that the consistency is light and creamy. Pour the finished snow milk into glasses, garnish with chocolate shavings if desired and serve chilled.
