    Iron Curtain Trail

A Cycling Route along the Former Iron Curtain

    Cross-Border Cycling Enjoyment

Covering a total length of 10,400 km, the EuroVelo13 runs along the former Iron Curtain, on sections of the Green Belt with fascinating flora and fauna, across Europe. The approximately 400 km long Austrian-Czech-Slovak cycling experience along the Iron Curtain Trails begins in the northern Waldviertel.

Starting from Gmünd, you’ll venture into the beautiful Weinviertel, where from Hardegg to Hohenau an der March, you’ll repeatedly cross back and forth between Austria and the Czech Republic, which share a common cultural heritage. From Hohenau an der March, the route then winds along the Slovakian border all the way to Bratislava. This popular route offers diverse stages, introducing cyclists to the wine culture and enjoyment of the landscapes along the way.
