Explore historical sites, impressive landscapes, and picturesque villages on this cross-border cycling tour from Aigen-Schlägl to the Czech Republic.
The cycling tour begins at the marketplace in Aigen-Schlägl and follows a diverse route through Austria and the Czech Republic. After starting, you’ll pass through Baureith and continue on to St. Oswald, where historical monuments like the former customs house can be seen.
The route then leads to the Czech border, passing by the sculpture “Connect it” and a monument to the “Iron Curtain”. Along the Schwarzenberg Schwemm Canal, you’ll descend to the Moldau Reservoir (Lipno Reservoir), where you can enjoy an impressive view of the surrounding landscape. The tour continues through picturesque villages like Přední Zvonková and Zadní Zvonková before ending at the border crossing near the Rotbachschleuse.
Along the way, you’ll pass through the Sun Forest, once a center of glass production, and the Schrollenbachschleuse before reaching Oberhaag, where you can visit the historic Swedish trenches. The tour ultimately ends back at the starting point in Aigen-Schlägl after approximately 42 kilometers.
