While you follow the bustling Lake Constance cycle trail from Romanshorn, the Herzroute with the number 99 in Rorschach suddenly turns off and you’ll start climbing up the hills. Lake proximity becomes a lake view and, a little later, the lake panorama.
The route expertly winds its way along the Appenzell foothills before reaching the St. Anton viewpoint, from where you believe that you can see half the world. You’ll then enjoy an epic descent into the winegrowing town of Altstätten, where you can enjoy a locally-produced glass of fermented juice and recover from the high-altitude euphoria.
