Tour Information
We follow in the tracks of Tassilo, the Duke of Bavaria. We first cycle via Rohr to Achleiten Castle and along the state cycle path to the Schacherwald. Tranquillity reigns over the ponds … maybe images from old tales will come to mind, such as how Tassilo’s son Gunter died on a boar hunt in the deep forests. Heiligenkreuz suddenly appears in the open terrain; two church towers protruding high into the sky, glowing mountains in the background – a sublime atmosphere!
Kirchberg offers a lovely view of the impressive Kremsmünster Abbey – a short while later we make our way in through the impressive oak door.
The section down to the market is very steep. This is followed by a gentle section on the Kremstal trail before a longer incline demands a bit more effort. The rest of the route is gentle and it’s worth taking a short break in Pfarrkirchen just before you reach your destination.
