Tour around the Hohe Salve
Cycling round tours in the valley are becoming increasingly popular among our guests and locals. They are the best way to get to know many places and the surrounding scenery and “experience” the areas close up. The Salve Circular Cycling Route is also one of the most popular tours in the Tyrolean Unterland. Thanks to modern e-bike technology, the route is also manageable for pleasure cyclists who are looking for relaxation rather than a sporting kick.

Tour around the Hohe Salve
The Salve Circular Cycling Route starts from the village square in Itter. It then takes you via the hamlet of “Hacha” and into the historical centre of Hopfgarten in the Brixental Valley. From there you’ll come to cycle track no. 21 that leads you in a southerly direction into the Windautal Valley before taking you in a loop back to Westendorf. Continue on cycle track no. 21 to Brixen im Thale and Kirchberg – with a gentle incline and away from busy roads.
In Kirchberg, the trail takes you in a northerly direction past the Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee golf course to Reith bei Kitzbühel. Follow the signs through the local towns, up towards Astberg and back down on the Schösserweg until you come to the L202. After just a few hundred metres, this will take you to the famous “Stanglwirt” hotel in Going. At the junction with the B178, turn left onto the Aupromenade. Cycle track no. 14 will now take you through the towns of Going, Ellmau, Scheffau and Söll at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser mountains and to the valley station of the Salvista cable car. Just a few more minutes from here and you’ll be back to your starting point in Itter.
