The hop loop of the water cycle routes in Upper Bavaria takes you around 350 kilometres through the Hallertau, the largest hop-growing region in the world. The Hopfenschleife - part of the Wasser-Radlwege Oberbayern - comprises 12 varied cycle tours that can be flexibly combined into a large circular tour or individual daily stages.
The main route starts in Munich and leads via Dachau to the hop landscape of the Hallertau, where fragrant hop gardens, traditional breweries and the German Hop Museum await you.

The Hopfenschleife is divided into clearly structured stages and is ideal for day or multi-day tours. From Munich, the route first leads along green paths to Dachau and on through fields and villages to Aichach.
The route then continues through peaceful countryside via Schrobenhausen towards the Danube to Neuburg and then along the river landscape to Ingolstadt. The route then leads through the heart of the Hallertau region via Wolnzach to Freising and onwards via Garching back to Munich. The main route is supplemented by cross-connections such as Freising-Erding, Garching-Erding and Ismaning-Dachau, which allow for flexible shortcuts.
The tour is suitable for all levels of ability: many sections are flat and easy to cycle, longer stages require some fitness. There are numerous places to stop for refreshments, beer gardens and accommodation along the way for a relaxed cycle tour through nature, culture and Bavarian beer tradition.
