Galgenberg Wine Cellar Lane
The cycling route passes through the Galgenberg wine cellar lane, which is located near the village of Wildendürnbach. The wine cellar lane consists of over 180 press houses and gets its name from a gallows that was located on this hill until the year 1828.
“Oagossn” Wine Cellar Lane
The well-preserved, unusually colorful, and lively wine cellar lane called "Oagossn" is also part of the Veltliner cycling tour. Here, you can expect wine taverns, open cellar doors, and various events.
Vino Versum Poysdorf

Castle Ruin on Staatzer Berg
Visible from afar, the Staatz Ruin rises from the Laa Plain on the approximately 100 m high rocky hill. The cycling route leads around the Staatzer Berg and is therefore ideal for exploring the castle ruin Staatz.

From the spa town to the wine town
The Veltliner Cycling Tour starts from the spa town of Laa/Thaya and covers 75 km through the northeastern Weinviertel region. Grüner Veltliner is the flagship grape variety of the Weinviertel, representing about half of the region’s vineyard area. The choice of name is therefore no coincidence, as the cycling route passes by numerous vineyards and wine cellars. The cycling tour begins in Laa/Thaya, right next to the Therme Laa – Hotel & Silent Spa.
Through the Laa Plain, the route continues through the “Galgenberg” wine cellar alley in Wildendürnbach. Here, more than 180 press houses line up in rows. The route then passes through Pottenhofen and Ottenthal to the picturesque wine village of Falkenstein. Through Herrnbaumgarten, the route continues to the wine town of Poysdorf, before passing through Staatz and Wultendorf back to your starting point in Laa/Thaya.
