Cycling holiday in the Weinviertel
Enjoyable Serenity
Austria’s largest wine-growing region
The gently rolling landscape of Austria’s largest wine-growing region captivates with an extensive network of around 2,000 km of cycling routes. Packed lightly are picturesque vistas of vineyards, charming wine cellars, cozy wine taverns, and vinophilic excursions.
“Enjoyable Serenity” is the motto in the northeast of the country – the perfect ground for pleasure cyclists! Culinary delights, culture, and landscape come together here to create an unmistakable charm. Without steep climbs, about 14 wine cycling routes traverse through the most beautiful vineyards. The idyllic circular routes, ranging from 35 to 75 km in length, are a highlight – all named after grape varieties, such as the peppery Veltliner cycling tour or the fruity Weinviertel DAC cycling tour. The name says it all!
Just like the international cycling classic “In Velo Veritas”, where cycling enthusiasts gather annually for a sporty tour on classic racing bikes. Three distances are available for the steel (bike) – from 210 km to 140 km to a 70 km round through the most attractive sections of the famous Weinviertel cycling routes. No timing, but plenty of time for enjoyment!
The app for pleasure cyclists in the Weinviertel
In addition to the free cycling map, the Lower Austria Guide offers the opportunity to perfectly plan your cycling holiday in the Weinviertel in advance: the app is a super practical tool for route planning, as well as for on-site navigation. And also to get additional Weinviertel inspirations! Numerous bicycle and e-bike rental stations allow cycling pleasure in the Weinviertel even without your own bike – or just spontaneously!
Experience contemporary history up close
Sports enthusiasts also get their money’s worth in the Weinviertel – for example, on the multi-day long-distance cycling tours along the Kamp-Thaya-March cycle route. Here, the landscape, culinary delights, and cultural highlights of the Waldviertel and Weinviertel are explored at one’s own pace. On the unique Iron Curtain Trail (EuroVelo 13), European contemporary history comes alive: the cycle path follows the former Iron Curtain, which separated Europe for almost half a century.

- Iron Curtain Trail – EuroVelo 13 (402,2 km)
- Weinviertel DAC cycling tour (56,1 km)
