The Wine Country Cycle Route through idyllic southern Styria
Steep mountain rides and a lot of ups and downs are no problem for you? You are looking for a challenge and are not afraid of altitude? Then this long-distance bike path is just right for you. The R25 cycle path through southern Styria is a highlight and a fixed program item for every experienced cyclist. But also hobby athletes, for example with an e-bike, are increasingly enjoying the Weinlandradweg. In addition, individual stages of this route are also ideally suited for a cycling vacation in Styria.
The bike tour leads through the idyllic vineyards of southern Styria. No other wine route is probably as famous as this one. The R25 cycle path winds through culturally rich towns such as Arnfels, Leutschach or Gamlitz. On hot days, you can even cool off – the Weinland Cycle Route takes travelers to the open-air swimming pool in Leutschach, among other places. Otherwise, countless wine taverns, bike hotels and a unique landscape await the cyclists.

Wine country bike tour with charm
Unique panoramas. Region full of charm. Styrian delicacies.
The start of the R25 Cycle Trail is challenging – after the start in Saggau it continues towards Arnfels. It then carries on uphill towards Remschnigg. The next section is full of uphill and downhill parts – so being fit or having an e-bike is clearly an advantage on this cycle tour! The tour takes you around the north side of the Remschnigg and along a quick, long descent towards Leutschach.
There’s a great deal to see in Leutschach. Once you’ve cooled down in the outdoor pool, you can enjoy the grape harvest festival or wine culture days with a cool head. The town of Leutschach is like a symbol for Styrian wine culture – numerous vineyards, charming wine taverns and the typical Austrian humour all invite you to enjoy something to eat and drink. But be careful: if you indulge in too much wine, you should wait before setting off the next day.
