    Lake Kaltern Loop

The small Lake Kaltern loop is a perfect training ride, covering 17 kilometers with 320 meters of elevation gain. Starting from Kellereistraße, the route first descends onto the bike path into the Lavasontal. From there, it continues on a pleasant stretch towards Lake Kaltern and Auer.

Upon reaching Klughammer, on the shores of Lake Kaltern, the route follows the eastern lakeside southward. Just beyond the lake, the tour leaves the Bolzano-Auer bike path and circles the lake on a flat section until reaching the Wine Road. This road leads north for about one and a half kilometers before the route turns right onto a narrow asphalt path.

The path ends at the large parking area by the lake, where the final climb back to Kaltern begins. The remaining 180 meters of elevation gain pose a sporty challenge, often eased by the afternoon southern wind. Back in Kaltern’s village center, the lively main square offers the perfect spot to round off the tour with a refreshing ice cream or a cappuccino.

A bicycle tour becomes a pleasure when you combine it with a stop for a bite to eat.
