Around Kaltern
This gravel bike loop is perfect for exploring Kaltern and its diverse landscape. While it only scratches the surface of the extensive trail network, it offers a well-curated selection of the best routes and provides a great feel for the area.
The tour begins with a ride into the forest on the western slope of the Adige Valley, between the sports center and the picturesque hamlet of Altenburg. Here, one of the most beautiful viewpoints awaits, with a spectacular view over Lake Kaltern. From there, the route crosses over to the opposite side towards the Mitterberg. This distinctive hill rises between Kaltern and the Adige, with steep 400-meter cliffs on the valley side and a gentle slope descending towards Kaltern.
The next highlight is the impressive Steintal. The trail follows the wooded slopes of the Mitterberg and passes the idyllic Montiggler Lakes. From there, the final stage begins: vineyards line the path back towards Girlan, before the tour comes to a close in Kaltern.
This varied loop combines challenging forest sections, panoramic stretches, and gentle vineyard hills – an ideal discovery tour for gravel bike enthusiasts.
