Schaffhauser Bölletünne (Onion Tart)
Ingredients for a round cake pan of 24-28cm in diameter
Topping
4 onions
1 tsp butter
100 g bacon cubes
1 tbsp cornstarch
3 dl cream
2 eggs
Salt, pepper
Dough
200 g flour
1⁄2 tsp salt
70 g butter
1 dl water
Schaffhauser Bölletünne (Onion Tart)
- Mix flour and salt, add cold butter in pieces and rub it in. Gradually add cold water and process everything into a dough, but do not knead. Let it rest covered for at least 30 minutes.
- For the topping, cut onions into fine rings and sauté in a little butter. Add bacon cubes and briefly fry. Roll out the dough into a round shape and place it on a tart pan (32 cm in diameter) lined with baking paper. Pull up the edges, prick the bottom several times with a fork, and evenly spread the onion-bacon mixture on top.
- Mix cornstarch with a little cream, add eggs and the remaining cream. Season with salt and pepper, then pour it over the onion-bacon mixture.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 40 minutes. Serve hot with a salad!
