Leisurely tour to the Lake Gerold

Lake Gerold, one of the most beautiful moor lakes in the Alps, is situated in the small village of Gerold. The lake nestles between forest and meadows. The Wetterstein Mountains and the Karwendel rise majestically behind the lake. Even the Zugspitze Massif can be seen from the comfortable sunbathing lawn.

A bicycle tour becomes a pleasure when you combine it with a stop for a bite to eat.

Leisurely tour in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

This leisure tour starts at the train station in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and leads over a cycle track uphill to Gerold, with the famous ski jump constantly in view. If you want more peace and quiet, climb part of the route via the somewhat steeper “Alte Gsteig”. Once you arrive in Kaltenbrunn, you continue on a flat track and pass the cross-country skiing and biathlon centre.

After cycling around the lake and a refreshing swim, you can take a detour to the Gschwandtner farmer, who serves the best culinary delights made from products and ingredients of his farm.

To end the day, we recommend a trip to the historic Ludwigstraße with a visit to Chocolaterie Amelie in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Afterwards, if you like it hearty with or without beer, stop at one of Partenkirchen’s traditional inns and let yourself be treated to culinary delights.
